The Victim Compensation Fund has just released the current statistics with regards to applicants and awards from the VCF. To date, the Fund has made over 21,000 award determinations totaling over $3.6 billion dollars. The Fund has approximately another $3.5 billion dollars available. Additionally almost 3,000 cancer claims have been deemed eligible. In the coming months and years we anticipate that thousands more cancer and death claims will be filed. It is key to understand that the Fund is open to individuals including residents, office workers, students, workers, clean-up personnel, construction workers, first responders including police, fire department and emergency services. You did not have to be present on 9/11/01. The Fund is open to individuals who were present at some time between 9/11/01 and 5/30/02.
