Remember, you did not have to be present on 9/11 and you did not have to be a First Responder to be eligible. The benefits of the Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) and the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP) are also available to office workers, construction and other trades, residents, teachers, students and others.

Anyone affected by the toxic air created by the events of 9/11, and not classified as a First Responder, even if your exposure was months later, is classified as a Survivor.

Officials from the Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) recently visited the Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County to meet with community members and discuss the ongoing support available for survivors and responders affected by the tragic events of 9/11.

An Important Visit

During their visit, VCF representatives emphasized the importance of providing assistance and compensation to those impacted by the terrorist attacks. They engaged with members of the Flight 93 community, including survivors, family members of victims, and local officials, to better understand their needs and address any concerns they may have regarding the compensation process.

According to  the past VCF Special Master Rupa Bhattacharyya, "Our goal is to ensure that all eligible individuals receive the support and compensation they rightfully deserve for the physical and emotional toll they have endured as a result of the 9/11 attacks."

An Opportunity to Learn More

The visit also provided an opportunity for community members to learn more about the application process for the VCF and receive guidance on how to navigate the complexities of filing a claim. VCF officials underscored their commitment to transparency and accountability in administering the fund, emphasizing their dedication to assisting all eligible claimants.

In response to the visit, Flight 93 National Memorial Superintendent Stephen Clark expressed his appreciation for the VCF's outreach efforts, stating, "We are grateful for the support and resources provided by the VCF to help our community heal and rebuild in the aftermath of this tragedy."

As the VCF continues its mission to provide assistance and compensation to 9/11 survivors and responders, Cannata, Hendele & Cannata, LLP remains committed to supporting individuals in accessing the benefits they deserve.
